Provided on-call professional traffic engineering services for the City of La Mesa Public Works Department. Served as Project Manager, working directly alongside city staff at City Hall in a multifaceted role managing traffic programs, providing technical expertise, and leading process improvements. Trusted resource across both the Planning and Engineering departments.
- Conducted traffic studies, prepared traffic control work orders for signing, striping, and traffic calming measures, and performed field investigations. - Conducted studies for signal timing improvements and modifications, signal coordination, and adaptive signal control along corridors. - Reviewed dozens of traffic impact analyses and VMT studies for private development applications. - Managed staff augmentation personnel and interns, and developed GIS processes to organize the city's traffic count database. - Performed access and circulation evaluations and ADA compliance improvements. - Coordinated with Caltrans and the County of San Diego on encroachment and permitting matters, including responding to Caltrans requests for information and developing a Design Standard Decision Document (DSDD). - Developed VMT and traffic study guidelines for the city. - Led presentations to City Council and the Mobility Commission. - Led recurring Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) meetings—a multidisciplinary group including law enforcement, engineering, and maintenance staff—to evaluate and implement traffic engineering solutions. - Prepared staff reports for City Council, drafted internal memos and policy updates. - Managed the city's Cartegraph system to track and resolve resident-reported issues via the See-Click-Fix app. - Coordinated signal equipment repairs with subconsultants. - Developed a Notion-based system to track public requests and coordinate field visits and inspections, optimizing intern resources to reduce costs for the city. - Served as the city's public-facing representative for traffic-related inquiries and helped craft social media content to communicate key traffic updates. - Operated the city's Transparity signal-management system for signal operations and the Crossroads collision database for safety and records review.
